Notably new: South of Chicago expands pizza choices

South of Chicago Pizza and Beef

--When it opened: Jan. 31.

--What they do: South of Chicago Pizza and Beef features thin crust and deep dish pizza and a selection of local craft beers. The restaurant is the second in the market, following one that opened in the Fletcher Place neighborhood on Indianapolis’ Southeastside three years ago. The pizza joint joins Jack’s Donuts as eateries in the Bonn Building in the 750-acre Saxony mixed-use development along Olio Road in Fishers.

--Location: 13578 E. 131st St., Fishers. Restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The bar is open until midnight on weekdays and until 1 a.m. on weekends. Call (317) 219-6039 or check www.southofchicagopizzaandbeef.com.

--Cool thing we found: Co-owner Bob Jaeger grew up in Chicago before moving to Indy, and he built the restaurant on a philosophy of fresh ingredients, hand-made crusts and meatballs. He plans a third location in Greenwood in about a year.

--Quote: “We opened up this past weekend and we’ve just been slammed. We couldn’t have picked a better location. It’s unbelievable.” — co-owner Bob Jaeger
