Regional Firefighter Combat Challenge
08/03/2012 11:00 AM - 08/04/2012 05:00 PM
The Town of Fishers will host the regional Firefighter Combat Challenge (FCC) this summer. The mission of the FCC is to promote and showcase the talents, skills and athleticism of America’s firefighter heroes in an exciting and entertaining sports competition. The FCC travels to approximately 25 locations throughout the country every year simulating many of the essential skills of firefighting. Some of the skills showcased are climbing a five story tower in full gear, dragging and hoisting a fire hose, racing around obstacles and simulating forcible entry. The FCC motivates, identifies and celebrates America’s “best of the best” firefighters. After years of coverage on ESPN and the Versus television network, the FCC is widely followed by the firefighter community, the general public and the news media around the country as they search for “good news” stories to cover in their local communities. At any given regional competition, 75 to 175 competitors will participate in the FCC. Spectator attendance is likely to reach 5,000 to 10,000 people throughout the competition.
We also welcome The Kids Combat Challenge to Fishers. Targeting kids ages 4-11, The Kids Firefighter Challenge is miniaturized version of its adult counterpart. The Kids Firefighter Challenge is an exciting adventure for any child that ever wanted to put on some fire gear and squirt a real fire hose. Photo-ops abound and taking away a memory is a priceless experience for both kids and their parents. Additional built in activities will include: arts and craft tents, food vendors, live music and a competitor hospitality tent. The date of our regional competition is August 3-4, 2012 at Roy Holland Memorial Park.
