Clarian to Build IU Health Saxony Hospital
Clarian to Build Hospital in Fishers (Clarian Health Press Release)
November 30, 2007 – Inside Indiana Business
INDIANAPOLIS - Clarian Health officials announced plans for a 40-bed, 250,000 square foot hospital and medical office building on the northwest corner of the Saxony Development at I-69 and Exit 10 in Fishers, IN.
Last year, Clarian laid out initial plans to develop health and wellness services in the integrated community, and eventually a hospital. However, the increasing demand for quality health care has accelerated Clarian’s plans to build the only hospital in Fishers now.
“This project is a major win for the residents of Fishers and we’re ecstatic that Clarian chose Exit 10 as their location,” said Fishers Town Council President Scott Faultless. “While the high paying jobs created are an economic boon for our community, this innovative development will also allow Fishers to be a regional destination for health care.”
The $180 million project will be built in phases, initially bringing primary care services, surgical services, cardiovascular services, sports medicine services, imaging, urgent care, sleep center, occupational medicine services and a fitness center to Fishers residents. The hospital will be built around the concept of a healing environment, which means nature comes inside through materials, light, glass; nature is enhanced through gardens, additional trees, water features and walking and jogging trails, which will be open to the public.
“We are excited to be part of the Fishers community, collaborating with Saxony to provide a better and broader range of health and wellness services to local residents,” said Daniel F. Evans, Jr., President and CEO, Clarian Health. “This project will help distinguish Clarian and Fishers as a national model for new urbanism with fully integrated, community based health and wellness programs.”
Bringing its renowned expertise in health care design to the table, HKS, Inc., will be the project’s architect of record. Indianapolis-based BSA LifeStructures will provide engineering consulting services and construction management. BSA LifeStructures has worked with Clarian on several construction projects in recent years.
“Clarian’s announcement today is confirmation of the innovative wellness services coming to Saxony, to Fishers and the broader region,” says Rick Arnos, President of Republic Development, lead developer of Saxony. “A key tenet of Saxony is to promote healthy lifestyles through outdoor activity. The major investment announced by Clarian promises to propel that vision to a new level.”
Saxony is a 725-acre, mixed-use development in Hamilton County, Indiana, that includes diverse housing, multiple office districts, and distinct retail opportunities within a pedestrian-friendly, vibrant neighborhood. Once complete, this $750 million project will feature 1 million square feet of retail, 3.5 million square feet of office/industrial space and 1,300 residential housing units.
Clarian continues to have a positive economic impact on the communities with which it partners and expects that its Fishers presence will help add high paying jobs to this growing area as well. For each job Clarian creates, an additional job is created elsewhere in the community. Clarian’s continued collaborations and partnerships in local communities continue to infuse economic energy in these markets.
Clarian is committed to using the highest quality architecture to complement the vision of Fishers and the Saxony development. Clarian will bring direct links to the physicians and hospitals that offer comprehensive and premier Level 1 trauma services at Methodist Hospital, nationally recognized cancer and transplant services at IU, nationally ranked pediatric services at Riley Hospital for Children, and premier surgical, and women’s services.
