City Moves Forward on Exit 10 Work

August 30, 2002 - Noblesville Ledger

NOBLESVILLE – New roads and sewers are one step closer to reality at Exit 10, the Indiana 238/Interstate 69 intersection. The city approved a $663,000 contract Tuesday to design roads, sewers and drainage for corporate development.

City coffers will pay $250,000 of the contract now. The remainder may be paid later with a loan from the city’s wastewater funds.

However, thanks to an agreement with Republic, the developer for land around Exit 10, the city will be reimbursed for part or all of the contract cost, said Chris Hamm, Noblesville economic development director.

“This will get us to what looks and smells like development of corporate campus,” he said.

Detailed road and sewer designs function as a sort of blueprint for construction. Once they are complete, the city can fund construction at the site.

The contract and reimbursement agreement are preludes to a pre-annexation agreement for Exit 10.

The pre-annexation agreement would minimize city dollars used for roads and sewers and pave the road to eventually annex the Exit 10 area.

Negotiations for the agreement may be complete by Sept. 24, Hamm said.
