Saxony Coordinates Special Christmas Program for Families at Alternatives Inc.

FISHERS, Ind. — December 21, 2012 — Holiday cheer filled the air at Alternatives Inc. on December 20 as residents enjoyed a special early Christmas.  A holiday program was hosted at the shelter as part of a month long toy drive, sponsored by Saxony, on December 20, 2012.

Those attending the program were serenaded by the musical talents of members belonging to some of Indy’s top local bands; The Bishops, Zanna-Doo, as well as Indiana’s own international recording artist Flynnville Train. Santa made a surprise appearance to distribute toys and other gifts to women and children currently residing at the shelter and participating in Alternatives’ outreach program.

This is the third year Saxony has hosted the Holiday Toy Drive. New unwrapped toys and monetary gifts were collected at a series of concerts in cooperation with Blonde Entertainment, which manages several local bands. This year’s Holiday Toy Drive included performances by Zanna-doo, Sour Mash, Living Proof, Lemon Wheel, The Bishops and My Yellow Rickshaw. Venues included Britton Tavern, The Ale Emporium, Casler’s Kitchen and Bar, and Mo’s Irish Pub.

Saxony also hosted the 3nd annual Saxony Victorian Holiday Celebration & Toy Drive, on Saturday, December 8, 2012.  Residents of Saxony were invited to celebrate with cast members of the Fishers Renaissance Faire as they sang Christmas carols, had photos taken with St. Nick, and enjoyed holiday refreshments and crafts.
